A rainy Friday made for a very cranky Sara. All I wanted to do was watch TV in PJs while shoving junk food down my throat. (…sadly a lot of weather makes me feel that way) Instead I forced myself to eat well and go to Crossfit instead of my own personal Happy Hour after work. The WOD was one of my favorites because it was a heavy lifting day and NOT back squat!
Find 1 RM Clean
Usually I stick to my favorite clean – the Power Clean. But the coach last night suggested that since my squat isn’t very strong to work on it. GAH! Mentally I was not happy to hear this but there was a part of me that wanted to get better at squat clean. I quickly learned I am actually much stronger when I get as low as I can to catch the bar! Not only did I hit my old PR of 135# really quickly but I finished the night with a 12Lb PR at 147.5#!!!! I probably could’ve hit 150 but I didn’t have time and 147.5 was REALLY tough. I decided to save 150-155# until next time 😉
I was so proud of myself for PRing AND working on my squat clean. I felt SO strong! And I hate to admit it but squat cleans are pretty awesome 😛
